Sign Installer / Wrapper (Trainee)


What's the job?

We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in the signage industry, an eye for detail and a hands-on approach to work.


Our package and style of working is like no other.

In this role, you'll join our install team, working to a high standard and to deadlines across a varied client base. You'll learn to fit many types of signs, apply vinyl graphics and wrap vehicles, with full training and support from experienced colleagues. If you already have some experience in signage, vinyl or vehicle wrapping, great, but it isn't essential. We'll teach you the rest.


What we're looking for:

  • Confident and comfortable using drills, hand tools and power tools
  • Used to working at height and happy using ladders, scaffold towers and access equipment
  • A practical, sensible approach, with the ability to think on your feet, spot potential problems before they happen and always put safety first
  • Good attention to detail and pride in a job done well
  • Ability to follow instructions and interpret briefs accurately
  • Good communicator who works well as part of a team
  • Neat, accurate paperwork, completed ready to be passed on for invoicing
  • Safe manual handling of materials and an understanding of the importance of Health & Safety
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)


Desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience in signage fitting, vinyl application or vehicle wrapping
  • Experience with vinyl plotters, large format printers or laminators
  • CSCS / IPAF / PASMA / First Aid accreditations (we can support you in gaining these)
  • A background in a related trade, such as joinery, building, maintenance, fabrication or vehicle body work


This is a physically active role which will from time to time involve heavy lifting and digging holes for posts, so good physical fitness is required. You must also be prepared to work outside in varied weather conditions to meet customer demands.

Successful applicants will be enthusiastic, reliable, good timekeepers, well organised and keen to learn. You'll be able to work on your own initiative when needed, be a great team player, and have excellent customer-facing communication skills.


What are the hours?

40 hours per week: 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-2.30pm on Friday. As we know, in this industry there's also a need to be flexible, so there will be opportunities to work outside of these hours, including some evenings and weekends. Here at Blue Sky Signs, the flexibility goes both ways.


What's the package like?

Successful applicants will be rewarded with a competitive wage of £26,500-£28,000, depending on experience. We also offer overtime rates, 25 days paid holiday (plus 8 days bank holiday), work uniform, healthcare package, life insurance, pension, and a genuine annual bonus based on both company and individual performance. When the company grows, everyone gets rewarded.


You'll also get real training and a clear path to progress, with the chance to develop into a fully skilled installer and wrapper as you grow with us, including a pay review once you're signed off on installs and wrapping.
